About Us

WHAT WE STAND FOR

At Moonlight Makers, we believe in the transformative power of joy, kindness, and community to create lasting change. That’s why we’re dedicated to donating a portion of our sales to grassroots organizations that share our vision of building a more loving, balanced, and connected world. Every purchase you make helps support organizations focused on empowering communities, renewing hope, and bringing positive change to the world.

OUR STORY

We met as neighbors—and it didn’t take long for our three kids to become best friends. Before we knew it, we were tossing around business ideas over coffee and playdates. In February 2015, we merged our favorite ideas into one and launched Moonlight Makers.

We built our website, bought a short bus, and turned it into a mobile shop. Weekends were spent at local events and festivals, while weekdays meant packing orders and screen-printing shirts on our kitchen counters after the kids were in bed. We kept designing, kept growing, and eventually stepped into the wholesale world with a line of fun, handmade designs.

In the 2016 holiday season, we opened a pop-up shop in Downtown Asheville. We instantly loved the energy of having a physical space. When the chance came to return that summer, we jumped in, hiring our first team member and finally moving our operations out of our kitchens and basements.

By Halloween of 2017, we had upgraded to a beautiful old photography studio across the street. Today, in Summer 2025, we’re proud to say:

  • We’ve have an incredible team we absolutely adore
  • Our products are carried in over 3,000 stores nationwide
  • We’ve created 400+ original designs
  • We offer custom printing for local businesses
  • And between us… we now have six kids!

Through a pandemic, a catastrophic hurricane and economic curveballs, our community’s support has meant everything. Life is full and wonderfully chaotic but we love what we do, and we hope that love shines through in every product.

With gratitude,
Claire & Nicole

OUR NAME

We often get asked: Where did "Moonlight Makers" come from?

After days of nonstop brainstorming, we kept coming back to words like “handmade,” “makers,” and “Asheville.” But it finally clicked when we realized we were doing all of this after our kids went to bed, moonlighting as makers. The moment we said "Moonlight Makers," it just felt right.
